On Election Day, Bryker Woods 5th graders conducted a school-wide mock election. Here are photos of the event. You can see student voters going through the voting process after standing in (a short) line with their class, and 5th graders serving as election officials. The 5th graders validated voter registration cards and stamped them, directed student voters to the voting booths and ballot box, and gave them an “I voted” sticker after the ballots were casted. Afterwards the 5th graders tallied the results in their classrooms. Curious about the results? Landslide: Barack Obama took all 145 electoral votes. The popular vote was 48 for McCain and 338 for Obama. One write-in vote was illegible.
