A news letter post from principal Muehling.
It is with mixed emotions that I write this final Principal’s Corner. Today you will be receiving a letter from the district about my decision to retire after 19 years with AISD.
I began my educational career in AISD as a long-term substitute for 6th grade social studies and language arts at Zilker Elementary, and ending my career as a very proud principal at Bryker Woods! Along that journey, I taught 5th grade science and social studies, 1st – 3rd grades and K-5 P.E. I also served as instructional coach and assistant principal.
In one of administrative certification courses, I had a professor who challenged us, as future campus leaders, to find the magic in our school. It didn’t take long at BWE! At my first morning assembly, looking out on all the smiling faces, I knew the magic was about the people who come together as a community to celebrate the rich traditions and school spirit that is Bryker Woods since 1939!
The next chapter of my life will most likely involve photography, writing and spending time with my daughters on the East and West Coasts (New York and California). I will always carry in my heart the joys of learning, growing and leading alongside our young leaders of today and tomorrow, the dedicated staff, and supportive families of “The Best School in Our Town!”
