Each class is held accountable as a team. Teamwork is a group of people working together toward a common goal. Our students are working to earn a “Peacefest” – a fun celebration offered on the last day of each 9 weeks.
Here is how it works: A large Peace “buck” is visibly displayed in each special area class. The “buck” is divided into 3 pieces. The class keeps the “buck” intact by working together to follow directions and behave appropriately. The goal is to have 1-3 pieces of the “buck” left at the end of class. Upon doing so, the class is awarded 1 small Peace “buck” to be taken and kept in their homeroom.
Eighty-five percent (85%) of the total “bucks” that are possible to earn in a nine weeks must be earned from all Special Areas combined in order to participate in the 9 weeks Peacefest. Any class not earning 85% of the “bucks” will receive separate services that day. The following rules apply to each individual within each class. Any student receiving a 2 = Needs Improvement, in personal development in any special area class will have the following consequences enforced during the Peacefest.
- “2” out of the 3 special areas = Loss of 10 minutes.
- “2” out of the 3 special areas = Loss of 20 minutes and No Prize Eligibility
- “2” out of the 3 special areas = No Peacefest Participation
