In addition to our regular school and classroom rules, students are expected to abide by special “Cafeteria Rules” Cafeteria Student Policy below.

  • Stay seated and raise your hand for assistance.
  • Use a quiet “inside” voice.
  • Walk at all times.
  • Keep your food to yourself.
  • Clean up after yourself.

You are always welcome to visit the cafeteria and eat lunch with your child. This is a good time for younger siblings or guests to visit as well. Please see visiting policy during lunch.

A student should not leave the cafeteria for lunch unless signed out by their parent. If a student wants to leave with another student’s parent, there must be a note from their parent.

Breakfast and lunch are available to all students on a daily basis. Some students are eligible for free or reduced price meals. This is based on total household income and number of household members. Please complete an application to determine whether your child is eligible.

Breakfast is served from 7:15 a.m. until 7:35 a.m. each school day. Milk purchased without a meal costs 65¢. Various snack items are also available during lunch times and are priced individually. Students without a lunch or money can charge account up to 3 full meals (combination of breakfast and lunch). Students are provided with a peanut butter sandwich and milk if the parent cannot be contacted for other arrangements to be made. All students enrolled with AISD have an account.

A Full Meal includes the entree, milk, 1 fruit, and 2 vegetables. If your child buys a full meal they must purchase at least three items INCLUDING 1 fruit or 1 vegetable. They can supplement their home-packed lunch box with the single items listed above. NOTE: They can only buy ONE snack item per day and frozen yogurt is considered a snack even though it is only available on Friday-treat days.

As long as your child’s account has a positive balance, they can order drinks (milk or bottled water), a fruit, a vegetable, snack or a full meal. If the account does not have a positive balance, the cafeteria staff will allow them to go into a negative balance of up to -7.00 as long as they order the full meal. At that point they will contact you to fund the account. They will never allow a child to go hungry, but they will not allow a child to continually order snack items on a negative balance. Exact change is always appreciated and you can discuss with your teacher how money should be transferred if you do not want to use Please note that NO CHANGE will be given to students. It will be held by the cafeteria staff for parents to pick up at their convenience.
