Creative Action’s free after-school classes and residencies reach more than 3,000 students from 25 sites each week in Austin, Del Valle, Bastrop, Eanes, Manor, and Round Rock Independent School Districts. Thanks to funding from the 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs and other generous donors, most of our after-school programs are free to students at specific underserved campuses.
The objective of the After School program is to offer real solutions to schools plagued by low academic performance, poverty, and safety issues during the hours immediately following the school day, allowing at-risk preK-12th grade youth to engage in creative arts and scholastic enrichment, boosting self-esteem, academic performance, and leadership.
After participating in Creative Action After School, youth will:
- Increase literacy levels and knowledge of the arts.
- Build new skills and concepts to be put into practice to solve problems.
- Express themselves freely.
- Feel like they are part of a community.
